Xcyto Sugar Free Energy Drink Info:
I have not written a review in a couple weeks because of the holidays, but here I am back in business. The drink I have today is the Xcyto Sugar Free energy drink. I do not know where it came from, as it was in my stocking on Christmas. I also don't know much about it, except for that it is made by the health company CytoSport and it comes in regular and sugar free. You should be able to find this drink at Rite Aid, GNC, etc. The can's slogan is "Becasue...life has no speed limit". Well, let's see if the Xcyto Sugar Free Energy Drink can even drive 55.

Xcyto Sugar Free Energy Drink Taste:
Well, because this drink looks like a budget vitamin company's drink, I wasn't expecting anything great. I thinking either a Red Bull clone, a cough-syrupy taste, or a horrible medicinal aftertaste. But to my pleasant surprise, it wasn't any of those. It does have a hint of Red Bull, but it's not too strong. If you took Red Bull, Cotton Candy, and some grapes, you may end up with this drink. It may taste weird at first, but it's actually pretty good. It goes down fast and it has no sugar to boot. A good tasting drink. A 8/10.

Xcyto Sugar Free Energy Drink Kick:
The can does not tell you how much of anything is in the drink, but it does tell you the ingredients, and they aren't too shabby. This is the first drink I have had with L-Citrulline in it, and it is supposed to help increase blood flow. It may be the ingredient that gives this drink such a good kick. Being a budget 10.5oz drink, I was expecting close to nothing, but it actually gives a good kick. Just a short time after finishing the drink, I felt it and it lasted for a few hours. It is also pretty strong. It's far from the strongest drink I have ever had, but its far above average for it's size. A 9/10.

Xcyto Sugar Free Energy Drink - The Bottom Line:
The Xcyto Sugar Free energy drink is a good, if original tasting drink with no sugar that gives an above average kick. I would definately get this again. The only trouble may be finding it, as it isn't found in gas stations or party stores. An 8.5/10.

Sport Shake Vanilla Energy Drink Review

Taste: 4.5
Kick: 4
Sizes Available/Cost:
8oz Can - $1.50
Energy Ingredients/8oz Serving:
Carbohydrates - 39 g
Protein - 9 g
Final Score: 4

Sport Shake Vanilla Energy Drink Info:
At my local Holiday station, I came across something I have never seen before - an energy milkshake. There it was, a vanilla milkshake bearing the words "The Original Energy Milk Shake" in an 8oz bullet can. I bought it right then and there. But after looking at the can, I noticed that there is no Caffeine, Taurine, Carnitine, Ginseng, or Guarana. Heck, there aren't even any B Vitamins. I wondered how they could market this as an energy drink. Let's see if the Sport Shake actually delivers the energy your body needs.

Sport Shake Vanilla Energy Drink Taste:
Considering that this is a milkshake, and it has no energy ingredients that can produce a medicinal aftertaste, I expected this to taste pretty good. And also, I like vanilla flavored things. I opened it and it smelled ok. I took a drink and was confused. I didn't know if I liked it or not. As I kept drinking it, I realized that this drink tasted horrible. I have had many vanilla milk shakes in my day, and in my opinion, this just doesn't come close to delivering the taste I have come to love. I recommend to stay far away from this drink. It doesn't even have any real energy ingredients for an excuse. Pathetic. A 4.5/10.

Sport Shake Vanilla Energy Drink Kick:
The Sport Shake Vanilla failed miserably in the taste catagory, but can it reclaim itself with a good kick? Absolutely not. I didn't expect anything big, as this has nothing in it but milk, sugar, and protein, but I actually got less than my expectations. I thought I felt something at first, but it was only the 38 grams of sugar in this little 8oz can. In short, this drink will not give you anything more than a possible sugar rush. I don't see why they market this as an energy drink. But, I guess if you count a 3 minute sugar rush as energy, this may be your thing. A 4/10.

Sport Shake Vanilla Energy Drink - The Bottom Line:
In short, the Sport Shake Vanilla is a bad tasting milkshake in an 8oz can that gives a nonexistant kick. And it will cost you a $1.50. What else is there to say? Stay away from this. A 4/10.

Monster Energy Lo-Carb Energy Drink Review

Taste: 8.9
Kick: 8
Sizes Available/Cost:
8.3oz Can - $1.50
16oz Can - $2
24oz Can (Available in resealable and non-resealable cans) - $3
Energy Ingredients/8oz Serving:
Energy Blend of:
L-Carnitine, Glucose, Caffeine, Guarana, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, and Maltodextrin - 2500 mg
Taurine - 1000 mg
Panax Ginseng - 200 mg
Riboflavin - 1.7 mg
Niacin - 20 mg
Vitamin B6 - 2 mg
Vitamin B12 - 6 mcg
---------------------------------Final Score: 8.5

Monster Lo-Carb Energy Drink Info:
The Monster Lo-Carb energy drink was the second energy drink I ever had (first being an original Rockstar), and I have loved it since my first can. I have had countless amounts of this drink, and almost 150 different energy drinks later, this is still one of my favorites. The main difference between this and the original is that this has almost no sugar. This is NOT sugar free, only low sugar, keeping the calories to 10 per serving. Let's see if this drink can make a monster out of you without as much sugar.

Monster Lo-Carb Energy Drink Taste:
The taste of the Monster Lo-Carb energy drink is pretty hard to describe. I love the taste, but I don't really know how to tell you what it tastes like unless you try it. It is kind of like a sweet citrus drink with a little bit of a bite. It tastes just like the original, only it is not quite as sweet, and I kind of prefer it that way. This drink has almost no sugar and a slightly better taste than the original. An 8.9/10.

Monster Lo-Carb Energy Drink Kick:
The Monster Lo-Carb energy drink has a pretty decent energy blend that gives a pretty good kick. The only thing that they could really do is beef up the B Vitamins and add some more caffeine (I believe that there is 80 mg/serving, but it is not noted on the can). It is better than the average energy drink and it lasts a few hours. It does take a short time for the energy to kick in as there is no sugar, but the tradeoff is worth it to me. An 8/10.

Monster Lo-Carb Energy Drink - The Bottom Line:
Well, the Monster Lo-Carb energy drink is a low-sugar, great tasting energy drink with a decent kick. The original was one of the first drinks to challenge Red Bull in the energy drink market, and with good reason. I like everything in the Monster line-up, but the Lo-Carb has to be my favorite. An 8.5/10.

Rooster Booster Lite Energy Drink Review

Taste: 9/10
Kick: 6.5/10
Sizes Available/Cost:
8.3oz Can - $1.50
16oz Can - $2
Energy Ingredients/8oz Serving:
Taurine - Undisclosed
Inositol - Undisclosed
Caffeine - Undisclosed
Niacin - 100%
Vitamin B6 - 190%
Vitamin B12 - 180%
Pantothenic Acid - 50%
Final Score: 7.5

Rooster Booster Lite Energy Drink Info:
I have not known about the Rooster Booster line of energy drinks until recently, when I saw them at my local Holiday station. Not seeing them before, I got the original (which I will review later) and the lite. Because I drank the lite most recently, I will review that one. They do come in 8.3oz and 16oz cans, but I can only find the 8.3oz. The side of the can says "Boosts performance with zero calories and zero carbs". Well, it is calorie/carb free, but will it improve your performance?

Rooster Booster Lite Energy Drink Taste:
Rooster Booster Lite has a berry flavor that is quite strong. It is also very good, however. I can't find a taste difference from the original, so the splenda used doesn't hinder the experience. This drink goes down fast, one of the better tasting drinks out there. But, to put it blatantly, this drink tastes exactly like Spike Shooter. That's it. They are both sugar free, and both have the same taste, but Spike Shooter gives a much bigger kick. That has nothing to do with the taste review though. A 9/10.

Rooster Booster Lite Energy Drink Kick:
Rooster Booster Lite delivers on taste, but will it give that extra boost? Unfortunatly, no. I kept waiting for the kick to set in, but nothing ever really happened. All of the energy ingredients have undisclosed amounts except for the B Vitamins, and I can't imagine that there is very much of anything in there. It did give a very slight boost, but not enough to hang with the big boys. It doesn't really boost your performance, but it does do it with zero calories or carbs. This drink is mediocre in the kick catagory, a 6.5/10.

Rooster Booster Lite Energy Drink - The Bottom Line:
Rooster Booster Lite is a great tasting, decently priced, sugar/calorie free beverage that falls short on the energy. I would definatly pick this up just to enjoy the taste, but only a slight kick is to be had with this drink. If you want zero calories/carbs/sugar in an 8oz can like this, get Spike Shooter. That way you get all Rooster Booster Lite's benefits with a 300mg caffeine kick. An 7.5/10.

Rockstar Energy Drink Review

Taste: 8/10
Kick: 7.5/10
Sizes Available/Cost:
24oz Can (Available in resealable and non-resealable cans) - $3
16oz Can - $2
8.4oz Can - $1.50
Energy Ingredients/8oz Serving:
Taurine - 946 mg
Guarana - 200 mg
Inositol - 25 mg
Carnitine - 25 mg
Eleutherococcus Senticosus - 25mg
Milk Thistle - 20 mg
Ginko - 15 mg
Vitamin B2 - 200%
Vitamin B3 - 50%
-------------------------------------------Vitamin B5 - 50%
-------------------------------------------Vitamin B6 - 50%
-------------------------------------------Vitamin B12 - 50%
-------------------------------------------Final Score: - 8/10

Rockstar Energy Drink Info:
I'm sure just about all of you have tried Rockstar, but what energy drink collection is complete without it? Rockstar was the first energy drink to come in 16oz cans and the drink itself reacts to UV light. Well, will this drink make you party like a rockstar?

Rockstar Energy Drink Taste:
Well, Rockstar has a very distinct taste that is unlike most other energy drinks out there. It is extremely sweet. If you took fruit, citrus, sugar, and a lot more sugar, you might find the Rockstar taste. At first, I didn't like it, but Rockstar's taste eventually grew on me. It is definately an acquired taste. Don't judge Rockstar by your first sip. Drink a whole can, and the taste may grow on you like it did me. It tastes pretty good. An 8/10.

Rockstar Energy Drink Kick:
When it comes to kick, Rockstar is just your average energy drink to me. Drink it, feel a little sugar at first, wait, get a mild burst of energy, back to normal in about 2-3 hours. That's it really. Rockstar has the basic 80mg of caffeine/serving, the average approx 1000mg (in this case 946mg) of Taurine/serving, the 50-100% of B vitamins/serving, etc. As these ingredients in these amounts are extremely common, the kick is also generic. But, Rockstar does throw in some abnormal ingredients, although they really don't affect the kick that much. They include Eleutherococcus Senticosus, which is similar to guarana, and Milk Thistle, which is supposed to help out the liver. It also has 100% vitamin C per serving, which although this is not an energy ingredient, it's nice to have. The generic kick plus a few extra ingredients give Rockstar a slighly above averege 7.5/10.

Rockstar Energy Drink - The Bottom Line:
Well, Rockstar is an innovative, good tasting, average kicking drink with a few extra ingredients thrown in. It is the same price as other energy drinks in their respective sizes, and it has an original can with a gold instead of a silver color and some eye-cathing decals. A pretty good drink for the money, recommended. An 8/10.

NOS Energy Drink Review

Taste: 9/10
Kick: 8/10
Sizes Available/Cost:
22oz Bottle - $3
11oz Bottle - $2
16oz Can - $2
Energy Ingredients/8oz Serving:
Taurine - 1000 mg
L-Carnitine - 200 mg
Caffeine - 125 mg
Inositol - 100 mg
Panax Ginseng Extract - 50 mg
Vitamin B6 - 2 mg
Vitamin B12 - 6 mcg
Final Score: - 8.5/10

NOS Energy Drink Info:
NOS energy drink is one of my personal favorites. I drink it all the time. If you didn't already know, NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems) is also a brand of nitrous for cars, and the 22oz bottle is made to look like an actual NOS cartridge. While NOS does improve the performance of cars, will it improve yours?

NOS Energy Drink Taste:
NOS energy drink has a very distinct citrus/passion fruit flavor. The closest drinks in taste compared to NOS are Sobe Addrenaline Rush and Shockwave. How people like NOS's taste is varied though. While many people say that it is bad because it is too strong, too sweet, or just bad altogether, I love the taste. I think that it goes down quite well in the morning, at night, with a meal, or anytime. It may not be the best thirst quencher due to its tangy-ness, but I think that this is one tasty beverage. I always have to opt for the 22oz size. A 9/10.

NOS Energy Drink Kick:
When you look at NOS's ingredients, the 22oz bottle has 2750mg of taurine, 550mg of L-Carnitine, and 343mg of Caffeine. That's right, the 22oz NOS has more caffeine than the Spike Shooter and Cocaine energy drinks. It does give a nice kick, but it doesn't feel like 343mg of caffeine. It lasts for a few hours, but it just feels like a 24oz Monster (240mg of caffeine) to me. It will get you going, but it's not among the strongest drinks out there. An 8/10

NOS Energy Drink - The Bottom Line:

Well, NOS energy drink is a very tasty, competively priced beverage that gives a decent kick. While many may disagree, I'm sure that many more will agree when I say that NOS is easily one of my favorites, just for the great taste. And you have to admit, the bottle is pretty cool. An 8.5/10
